Come out for delicious fish and help support two incredible charities.  The 35th Annual Fish Fry is here on September 30th from 11:00am to 7:00pm (or until sold out). The Green Level Baptist Church is gracious to allow us to use their pavilion in the back of the parking lot that we share with them.

Menu includes:

  • Our famously fried wild caught Whiting
  • Cole slaw
  • Boiled potatoes
  • Hushpuppies

If you’ve ever attended before, you know this is just not your average fried fish.  Come on out grab a dinner for everyone in the family.  You won’t regret it.

Our fish fry fund raiser is our main fundraising event to raise money for our two main charities.

It’s time for some Jiggin!

This weekend at the fairgrounds is the Annual Masonic Pig Jig which is part of the Got to Be NC 2016 Festival. A couple dozen lodges will be competing for the best BBQ. You can read more about it at http://www.carolinapigjig.com/

Brethren this event, which our lodge has taken part in since it’s inception in 2006, is one of the best times I’ve had in masonry. About 6 pm Friday we will start setting up our tents, etc. When that’s done our Team Leader WB Todd Hux will fire up the grill and cook up a smorgasbord of steaks, chicken, sausages, French fries, onion rings and who knows what else.

We will put the pig on the grill towards low twelve and guard it all night from cowans and eavesdroppers. At daybreak we start chopping and preparing for the 11 am opening.

Please come out if you can Friday night or Saturday morning.  And perhaps stay all night and help us through the trials and tribulations of the night. Help us avoid any vices or licentious habits and temptations of intemperance and excess.

Masonic Home for Children Homecoming Festival – October 11-12

It is time once again for our Brother Masons, their families, and friends to “Come Home” to Oxford.  Celebrating 140 years in operation as North Carolina’s first Home for Children, we are inviting our Masons, those who continue this great tradition of charity, to come and celebrate this history with those they have supported during that time, our alumni and our community.  Along with these groups we call on you and your family with this special invitation to come to your Masonic Home for Children at Oxford to celebrate our 3rdAnnual Masonic Homecoming Festival, October 11-12, 2013.

Festivities begin on Friday, October 11th with an alumni charity golf tournament, open to any avid golfers.  That evening cooks from around the state (and country) will gather on campus, set up their grills, and compete for the title of MHF BBQ Grand Champion, preparing BBQ, Chicken, and Ribs.   As they make preparations on this night, you and your family and friends are invited to an old fashion “yard party” on campus with music from  Grand Master, Dewey Preslar and the “Music Room Band”, as well as the EG Peters Band.  Famous Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge Stew will be made and sold on-site along with other food and drink available to all guests.

On Saturday morning, October 12th the Shrine Temples of North Carolina and local civic and high school groups parade through town for one of NC’s largest Shrine Parades.  Our BBQ contest judging complete, you are welcome to enjoy an “all-you-can-sample” lunch of all contestant entries for a $10 admission. During lunch enjoy music from nationally renowned and award winning beach music artists, The Craig Woolard Band (www.craigwoolard.com).  While on campus make sure you take part in activities including tours of the campus, cottages, School of Graphic Arts Print and Design Center, and the Cobb Center museum and archives, to view our Home and our charitable Masonic History.  For specific details, times, and locations visit the MHF website at www.mhc-oxford.org/john.html.

Please take this opportunity to come together as friends and supporters for the young lives helped by your Masonic Children’s Home.  Come and witness your work as Masons shaping and helping children in need, changing their futures.  Make the trip Lodge Activity or family outing and simply enjoy the history and future of Masonry in North Carolina.  Come back Home to Oxford October 11-12, 2013.  Seeing your charity is believing it – and we hope to see you all there.

Fraternally,

Brother Kevin Otis, Administrator, MHCO

W Brother Johnny Surles, Chairman, Masonic Homecoming Festival

MW Brother Dan Rice, MHCO Board Chairman and Oxford Orphanage Alumnus, 1968′

Annual Church 2013

Brother Mike May had an idea of restarting a tradition where by the Brethren would all attend the same local church once a year together.

After discussing dates and times, the Lodge decided on August 25 at Green Level Baptist Church (with whom we share out parking lot).  We’ll be attending the traditional 11:00am service.

Please contact Brother Mike May for details.
